Publication Model: Continuous (Rolling) Publication
08.01.2026Effective 1 January 2026, the International Journal of Contemporary Security Studies (IJCSS) is published as a semiannual journal (two issues per year) and follows a continuous (rolling) publication approach. This means that manuscripts are released one by one, online, immediately after completing the entire editorial and production pathway—peer review, acceptance, copyediting, proofreading, and final layout—without waiting for an issue to close.
Across each yearly volume, IJCSS applies continuous pagination: every newly published paper is given a final, sequential page span that continues from the last published article within the same volume. The version posted online is the final version of record, and its bibliographic details (including article title, author information, DOI, and page range) remain fixed after publication. A DOI is allocated at the time of online publication (where applicable) to ensure persistent identification, discoverability, and reliable citation.
For administrative, indexing, and long-term archiving needs, articles appearing within the same volume are later grouped into Issue 1 or Issue 2. This is a purely organizational step and does not change the official citation information. Authors and readers should cite papers using the year, volume, page range, and DOI (and, once assigned, the issue number if required by a specific referencing style).
