Authorship and Contributorship Policy

International Journal of Contemporary Security Studies (IJCSS) requires authorship to reflect accountable intellectual contribution. Every listed author must have made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis or interpretation of data; participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript; approved the version submitted and published; and accepted responsibility for the integrity of the work.

Author responsibilities

All authors must verify the accuracy of the manuscript, affiliations, references and disclosures. The corresponding author coordinates communication, confirms that every author has approved the submission, and ensures that contribution, funding, ethics, data availability and competing-interest statements are complete. Corresponding authorship does not imply greater ownership of the work.

Contributorship and CRediT

Submissions must include an Author Contributions Statement using relevant CRediT roles. Contributors who do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged with their permission. Ghost authorship and guest, gift or honorary authorship are prohibited. AI tools cannot be authors because they cannot approve a manuscript, hold rights or accept responsibility.

ORCID, groups and affiliations

Authors are encouraged to provide authenticated ORCID identifiers. Group or consortium authorship is acceptable when the group name, accountable members and individual contributions are clear. Each author is responsible for the accuracy of their institutional affiliation at the time the work was undertaken.

Changes to authorship

Before acceptance, any addition, removal or reordering requires a reason and written agreement from all listed and proposed authors. After acceptance, changes are exceptional and publication may be paused. After publication, an approved change is made through a linked correction; the Version of Record is not silently replaced.

Disputes

The editors may request contribution records and written statements but will not adjudicate disputes that require institutional investigation. Unresolved cases are referred to the relevant institution, and editorial action may be delayed pending its findings.
